Founding Ideas

This organisation was founded by a group of dynamic women who understood it takes a village to create a good life as well as the importance of having people with similar values in your village.

 

For AIWAV, that community is women with an international mindset.

Who are we?

A local organisation with an international membership.

 

We're a growing, diverse group of all nationalities, ages, interests, ethnicities and beliefs from all around the world.

Everyone is encouraged to participate, initiate and seek support.

LEADERSHIP 2025/2027

AIWAV changes its Leadership Team every two years. The team is made up of Administrative and Advisory roles plus a FAWCO representative.

Hermione Bushong

President

 

​Hermione has lived in Venice with her family for 10 years. She believes AIWAV has an important role recognising and supporting internationals living in Venice by choice. With a background in tech, arts and communications, for her Venice is a campus — full of things to learn, people to meet and material for the imagination.

​

Hermione also hosts the Gallery Hop group.

Olivera also writes the newsletter and Instagram posts.

Gina manages Membership, Whatsap and hosts the Let's Cook and Games Night groups.

Irene Woodbury

Adviser, FAWCO Rep​

Irene has been living in Italy for most of her adult life and has been full-time in Venice for over a decade. She is the mother of two bilingual boys, 9 and 12, and works as a Language Expert at the University of Venice Ca' Foscari. She became an AIWAV member in September 2023 and started work as a FAWCO Rep for the club in January 2025.

 

Irene also hosts Go Crab Go.
